The Imps is a non-profit making organisation that educates young people through a disciplined, dynamic and challenging programme of activities, with a world-famous motorcycle display team at its heart.
The Imps Motorcycle Display Team, noted for its impeccable smart red tunics and highly disciplined spectacular show originated in the 1970’s from The Hackney Adventure Holiday Project – a charity founded by Roy Pratt MBE that provided holidays in the country for under privileged young people.
One of the many activities covered was an introduction to motorcycling for the youngsters. Children soon became so proficient at cross-country riding that the charity had to consider how to harness this newfound energy. Competition riding was ruled out due to the high cost involved, which would have precluded most of the youngsters being able to participate.
At the invitation of the organiser of a local small show a six man formation riding team was formed to present a display. From these humble beginnings The IMPS have grown to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best motorcycle display teams in the World. The Imps perform at such prestigeous venue as The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and International events around the world.
The charity's proven track record spans more than forty years and has delivered innumerable personal success stories (including JBW's CEO, Jamie Waller) as well as creating an aspirational example to millions of young people. For over 2,000 young people, the Imps have provided a challenging, fulfilling and exciting journey through their formative years, teaching essential life skills and taking them around the world.
How JBW is helping
In 2014, JBW Group joined with other sponsors to buy the team a 52 seater coach to transport the team and their gear to their shows around the country.
The Imps unfortunately recently lost their life long sponsor, Honda UK, and they now need help to purchase a new fleet of motorcycles.
On 18th May, Waller and another ex-Imp Graham Dodridge, through their highly successful businesses, signed a sponsorship deal to fund the difference. JBW Group (www.jbw.co.uk) and Silver (www.silver.agency) will become the Imps title sponsors for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The Imps display team will be re-branded “Imps - powered by JBW and Silver”.
Commenting on the deal, Waller said: “how could anyone stand by and watch 45 years of hard work and hundreds of children's futures be ruined. Through the generosity of JBW, Silver and 90 other donors that have pledged money through Crowdfunder we have saved the Imps. Today is a happy day for all of us.”
The fundraising can't stop here though, and anyone reading this that has the desire to help should log on and donate. Every penny raised will go direct to the children.

Having joined the IMPS at the age of 5 and spending 11 years of my life travelling the world, riding motorbikes and learning vital life skills, I am delighted to help assist others achieve the same. The time I spent with the IMPS helped make me the person I am today. It is great to give something back with the success they helped me achieve.
